Not all locations contain the same amount of geological information.

Some regions exhibit relatively sparse constraint participation.

Others contain extraordinary concentrations of structural relationships, persistence systems, inherited boundaries, resource associations, and recurring observations.

This paper evaluates the concept of planetary constraint density as a measurable Earth-system property.

Density Principle

A location becomes increasingly informative as the number of independent constraints participating within that location increases.

Constraint density may therefore function as a useful proxy for geological significance.
