Great Circle Reconstruction I
The Earth: Day Zero framework evaluates candidate domains on a spherical planet. Therefore, large-scale spatial relationships must be assessed using great-circle geometry rather than planar projection.
A great circle provides the shortest path between two points on a sphere and establishes the natural geometric basis for evaluating entrance-domain, exit-domain, and midpoint-domain relationships.
Purpose
The purpose of the great-circle framework is to determine whether candidate domains form a coherent spherical relationship.
If the proposed entrance and exit domains cannot be connected by a meaningful great-circle structure, the geometric framework weakens.
Domain-Based Approach
Because geological structures occupy regions rather than exact points, the framework evaluates great-circle relationships between domain centroids, boundaries, and uncertainty regions.
This avoids premature precision while still allowing geometric testing.
Initial Constraint
The first great-circle constraint asks whether the candidate Antarctic entrance domain and candidate Arctic exit domain occupy a plausible linked relationship on the sphere.
Subsequent papers introduce midpoint testing, reconstruction uncertainty, and falsifiability criteria.
